Bio
The Complimentary Headsets arose out of the rafters of Mentone Grammar, where we spent some of our year 12 afternoons jamming instead of trying to get into Uni. After a year long hiatus when Lachy went off globetrotting, Joel got his meditation on at a Tibetan Monastery, Tom tried very hard to go to Uni, and Jordan surprised us all by getting back in the closet and finding a girlfriend, the Headsets are hitting back in 2008 with some blistering live shows around Melbourne and some bangin new tunes. Get on the train while it's still cheap and enjoy the roller-coaster ride with us!

So we made it - and now there’s just one more hurdle until we get a crack at that EP. Show your support as we battle it out against 13 of Melbourne’s best and brightest new talent. The time of The Headsets shall cometh.
26 Jul '08 @ Keysie Kocktail Nite - OMFC Fundraiser
Keysborough(VIC), $10.00
Every Saturday the Headsets pull on the Panther jumper and hit up opposing U19 teams. On a Saturday afternoon we’re transformed into Lachlan "Barrels" Stanley, Tom "Butter-chest" Cashion, Jordan "Gordan He" Lee and Joel "Serial Benchwarmer" Doutch. To repay the OMFC for this privilege, we’re playing some tunes for this drunken festival of a fundraiser which is sure to be a grand night for all - UP THE PANTHER!!

Balls - the last review was supposed to be for this song ("Prince Of Thieves"). Oh well. The last track here ("Come With Me") isn't bad... but it's "Prince Of Thieves" that's the standout.

Come With Me

This one also shows distinctly Arctic influences, although hearing lyrics about the ticket inspectors on the train delivered in a trans-continental Liverpool-meets-Lilydale accent is kinda amusingly incongruous. These guys can certainly write a tight indie pop tune - particularly like the faintly psychedelic arpeggiated refrain.

These guys cite Arctic Monkeys as an influence, and you can certainly see why - same driving bassline, same buzzsaw guitars, same arched-eyebrow lyricism. This isn't a bad thing, but a bit more individuality would go a long way.
