1} How does where you live affect your music?

Around 60 to 70% of the population of Alstonville is made up of old people thanks to the enticement of the various different facilities that are open to them (croquet lawns, bowling greens, the retirement home) which meant that when we were first starting out as a band we would get quite a few noise related complaints during our practices in Daniels garage after school. Eventually we started practicing at Sam's rural hideaway which is in a dark forest at the edge of town which actually turned out for the better because we could burn the tubes in our amps for longer and break as many strings as our hearts desired. It also meant that we could play louder.

2} Has your band’s sound/ dynamics changed since you started out? Where do you see it headed?

Our sound has changed immensely from what it was back in our 'greenhorn' or early days. First of all we used to be called 'The Pool Cleaners' but then Cameron came up with the name 'The Stains' so that stuck just like the subject does in real life unless you use extra cleaning products. We all share different music tastes but the initial sound of our music was very grungy, almost like early Silverchair crossed with The Vines. Eventually it evolved into what it is now, which a very wise man once described to me as being: 'Introspective Spanish Pop with tinges of Goa, Merengue and Meditative Negerpunk'. Or i guess you could call it 'Indie Rock' if we were cool enough that is. But were not. In the future we are looking into incorporating synthesizers and definitely more tambourine.

3} List any bands from the past/ present you identify with?

I don't know about identify with but 5 of the bands (I'll make it 5 so that i don't have to write down band names forever) from the past/present that have influenced me are:

The Silents
The Kinks
Arctic Monkeys
Velvet Underground
Pink Floyd

4} If you could record or tour anywhere where would it be?

Definitely Britain to tour, especially the festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds. But Splendour In The Grass would be the most exciting cause it'd be our 'local festival' and all of our friends could come and watch us make fools of ourselves.

5}How would you use the prize?

I would buy $15000 of shoe polish or $15000 of baboon hair or $15000 of novelty witch costumes or build a Rocketship so that all of the people that signed up could finally go to Space Camp.
But we would most likely use the money to do boring stuff like buy new instruments and record an EP at a fancy studio and have it mixed by someone famous. Touring would also be good to use the prize money on because then we wouldn't have to go to school as much.
