Q and A with Brisbane Indie Carnies, Rocketsmiths.

1} How does where you live affect your music?

Living in Brisbane is pretty laid back and fun loving I guess you could say, so we mostly try and write songs that people can dance and drink to.

2} Has your band's sound/ dynamics changed since you started out? Where do you see it headed?

I guess when we first started we were a bit more laid back with Dom playing acoustic on most songs but these days he plays electric on all of our songs and Heff our keyboard player is exploring the different sounds offered by synthesizers so I guess you could say we are heading in a heavier direction.

3} List any bands from the past/ present you identify with?

The Living End really spring to mind just in the way they put on such an energetic live show and that is something we really aspire to. Other than that I would probable say We Are Scientists in the way that they don't take themselves too seriously and are kidding around. If anyone has been to one of our shows they would be aware of terrible jokes and antics that we carry on with.

4} If you could record or tour anywhere where would it be?

Definitely the UK. It has such a great music scene and I think they would relate well to our drinking mentality. Also it would then give me the chance to kidnap Mark Ronson and get him to record our remix of "Crank that" by Soldier Boy.

5} How would you use the prize?

Well we have a newly recorded ep "Parts Pieces" set for release towards the end of September so I guess it will help with covering the costs of that and then hopefully some new gear and a van. All the stuff struggling musicians need really.
