1} How does where you live affect your music?

We sound strung out, frustrated and bratty cos we cop Sydney rental price death! Seriously speaking, I'm not sure if we sound that 'Sydney' at all as bands in our town are a bit electro or a bit jangly indie at the moment. I grew up on a dead-end street in a tiny town in NSW where the most fun I had was sitting on a curb sifting through pebbles and daydreaming about what life would be like when I could get out of there - I blame most of my musical output and persona on growing up frustrated but excited and wanting something more fabulous and dangerous than what was around me.


2} Has your band's sound/ dynamics changed since you started out? Where do you see it headed?


Yes, the songs have definitely gotten faster and more hectic after playing them live for a while. We wanna take it as far as it can go I guess! Without me losing my voice completely... or losing a limb.


3} List any bands from the past/ present you identify with?


We've been likened to a few bands we'd never expect to be compared to but it's a massive compliment - stuff like Les Savy Fav, Die Die Die, Blood Red Shoes... as a frontwoman I aspire more to be a bit of a Nina Hagen/Bjork/Neneh Cherry/Kate Bush/Shingai Shoniwa mashup. In my dreams!


4} If you could record or tour anywhere where would it be?


In the farthest corner of the world with incredible people that could broaden our horizons musically and personally. I want to record with people who take risks and push us to the edge, and play for kids who hate it, love it, throw things at us or jump up on stage... we'd love to go to New York, go to the UK, Berlin, Japan... all those places you hear that are amazing to tour in.


5}How would you use the prize?


We'd use it to be able to record and tour well beyond our current means. A prize like that would make getting out there so much more amazing and easy to do - and make our plans for the rest of 2008 a lot more realistic!
